I don't see what brings this book the accolades it has. I did not enjoy reading this as much as I wanted to. The characters and their encounters are just not that entertaining or profound??

More like 3.5, with a couple 5-star chapters. I may be unfairly deducting a half star for the moment on vacation when I read a blurb on the book jacket that referred to the novel's reputation as a solid beach read.
Could barely finish this. Disappointing- I loved The Keep.
There were things I liked about this book, but ultimately each time she switched points of view it was just at that point where I began to get into the character's story and get invested. And then it would be an abrupt shift that, to me, was uncomfortable most of the time. Very well written and interesting though. I wanted to enjoy it more.
