enjoyable but not necessarily special to me. I’m glad I read Candy house before because it was more interesting to think of the characters as prologues to what they later became. But I didn’t like Candy house that much and honestly this fell flat.

I give this book a lot of credit because it is the book that got me back into reading again. I think this is also the first book I read by someone writing close to my generation in a language that was very familiar to me.

The way this book was written was really intriguing, entertaining, and creative. Each chapter is a different “story” that is somehow connected to the one that came before it. I enjoyed the glimpses into different stories and seeing how they all connected, and found the chapter written in the form of a child’s powerpoint presentation to be especially interesting. However, I was bothered by the whiteness of all the characters and storylines and the way it played into and upheld some misogynstic and racist stereotypes.

A conversation about the past, present, and future of entertainment. A beautiful entanglement of stories of deeply flawed people and the lives they live.
Took me a little longer than I wanted to actually finish- but it’s was for the most part an enjoyable read from an author flexing her storytelling abilities.

Loved it. Enjoyed the fuzzy connections, the non-linear dimension of time, the relatable characters and the engaging story woven in this fabric. Each chapter(?) readable on its own but all part of a greater whole. There is a timelessness to the story that provided pangs of nostalgia even though it’s all fictitious.
