Almost a collection of short stories, but not quite. The chapter visually distinct from the rest reminded me of my brother, since he used to be obsessed with song lengths when we were kids-watching watching watching as the seconds ticked onward on the car's digital radio display, so that he didn't miss the final timecode. memorizing how many seconds long various radiohead songs were.

An interesting intersection of some of my favourite past times (music and sadness). The characterisation and skewering of pure ideology is very fun to read, but the real highlight for me was the one-two punch of the chapter set in Naples and the chapter following it. The emotion reverberates off the page and left me feeling a need to grasp firmly at the future.

I wasn't expecting much but this turned out to be a great read. The way it was written was unique and kept me intrigued.

This was such a good book. The people seemed so real and the stories were unique and exciting. I was so impressed by the wide variety of characters ans stories and how they were intertwined, even though some of that intertwining was very subtle. I didn't like the chapter that was a magazine article and I had difficulty with the chapter in second person, but everything else was flawless. Also, this was the first book I've read that I didn't complain about the bits in San Francisco.
