Loved the way this book jumped around - I just wish I was beter at memorizing peoples names !! My favorite part was the chapter in Powerpoint.

The most interesting thing about this story is the way it is told. The individual tales told and woven together are largely stories we've heard before, until we get close to the end of the book and it goes into the near future.

Characters -- some less cliche-ed and one dimensional than others -- are picked up at different parts of their lives out of order and we never know whether they will appear again in the book or be dropped. Their lives brush against and interact with each other's and in some cases change the direction another life was taking.

Egan employs a variety of writing techniques which always feel like interesting writing techniques and sometimes also allow emotional engagement and sometimes don't.

It's a nice read but it's not as profound as it thinks it is.
