This one just didn't do it for me, I'm afraid. I found it cluttered, almost scattergun in the delivery of clues, and the way she presented Alleyn's solving of the crime quite early on, leaving Bathgate (and me) in the dark was incredibly frustrating.
It does contain some great words that have fallen into disuse though, which was fun in its own right :)

Well, THAT was a whole lot better than the first one! By leaps and bounds! Also: a theatre mystery where THE AUTHOR REMEMBERED TECHIES ARE PEOPLE! (I'm not surprised, given Marsh's background, but still - there were people other than actors! Who got to speak! Even a little!)

I am enjoying Ngaio Marsh, despite some [slightly] racist elements. The tone is less serious than that of Dame Christie's but the mystery is just as fine.
