Charles Soule AND Phil Noto?! Instant read for me. The story is mysterious and the strange new worlds are riveting! Best sequel-era media I’ve consumed yet!

The series has the potential to be the best new Star Wars series of them all as it starts off as a prequel to the Force Awakens. However this volume just didn't do it for me. It was a little drawn out and yet lacking in story at the same time. It was just missing something to keep me hooked.

Am I counting comics and graphic novels in my 2020 reading challenge?

YOU BET YOUR ASS I AM!

The challenge isn't about reading exclusively novels. It's about reading in general, and what I've found even from early this year is that there is SO MUCH reading material out there. Venturing into Star Wars canon outside the screen has got me as excited as as me skipping down Main Street USA in Disneyland (for those of you that don't know, that's very excited).

If you know me, you know that I am unabashedly in love with Kylo Ren.

But after reading these I'm also in love with Poe Dameron????

This is what happens. You give me content about characters --> I fall in love with characters

Poe is a badass. Poe deserves his own Disney+ series.

Okay, a lot of characters deserve their own series. They mostly all deserve better.

Until Disney can figure that out, I'm going to binge read every comic book/graphic novel/novel about the Star Wars universe that I can get my hands on.

I always love me some Poe Dameron, so considering that this was a fun read. But sadly, the plot wasn't too convincing, especially the first half, and the dialogue felt quite flat and forgettable. I'm probably still gonna keep reading the series though, to get my regular dose of Poe and BB-8, because despite the story not being the best, it was still fun to read about them!

Read as single issues (1-6)

Poe Dameron is currently my favorite Resistance character in the new Star Wars canon novels and comics - the neutral good hero, who is where he is because of skills and dedication instead of birthright or chance. In a way, same goes for the whole of Black Squadron.

The art is nice and colorful and the artist does a good job with making Poe look like Oscar Isaac. Nothing really special about the story - a regular Star Wars space opera plotline, with a bunch of awesome droids. BB-8 approves:
