Honestly I just don’t think it was the right time for me, and I also felt it was a more cheesy romance than the kind of romances I usually like to read

Girl Crush

  • F/F Young Adult Romance
  • Dual POV
  • "I was everything she looked for in a guy, except for one thing: I wasn’t a guy."

Pros: Starts off really strong, Peyton and Cori's friendship is solid and described in a realistic way.

Cons: second half of the book is very dragged out, could have done with being shorter. Lots of plot points seem to be  left unexplored.
Sam is constantly mentioned as being stranger then usual but never explored? Her relationship with her dad?
Kat and Cori both come across as so extra in the way they talk, and their appearances, that it feels like a disconnect to the world around them.

Girl Crush is the first book I’ve read by author Rori. K. Pierce, but it won’t be my last. I really enjoyed reading this book. The premise of the book is not a story I’ve read before, a girl falling for a boy, who is really a girl. Cori and Jesse’s friendship/relationship has a lot of struggles, from both of their internal dialogue about how they felt about one another to parental problems and what their parents would think of them dating. All in all, I loved this book and highly recommend it.

An absolute must-read. The story of Cori and Jesse has gripped me like no other and left me craving more in the best way possible. The secondary characters are lovable and had me howling with laughter, clutching my chest in sympathy, and rooting for them every step of the way. Girl Crush is such a well written, accurate depiction of high school romance and friendships, as well as what its like to be openly LGBTQ+ in high school. 100% reccomend!
