4.5 rounded down on my second read through. I love this book to bits. It is hilarious, thought provoking, and well rounded. There aren't many authors, alive or dead, who can handle such heavy topics with such a deft touch and dry wit. The ending is a bit of a hit or miss; but it makes sense. One of my comfort reads; I can imagine revisiting it many times over, but more for a sense of nostalgia rather than to uncover hidden depths. I particularly love Om, being as he is a giant prick.
EDIT: Still a solid 4.5, on another re-read. Absolutely smashing stuff. I like the ending more each time I read it. We need more comfort reads with less bloody murder.
