Don’t put your faith in gods. But you can believe in turtles.
Look, Terry Pratchett is an extraordinary author, and the Discworld series is an extraordinary series.
It’s witty, it’s existential, it’s built out to the nines, its characters are SO three-dimensional, its dialogue is so fun, and - added HUGE bonus - you feel safe with the perspectives Terry Pratchett had.
For all of these reasons, I wish his writing style and what he generally chose to write about was more for me. I know this about myself, and yet in returning to the series I even chose the one about religion??? A topic I already spent away all my interest in back in 2008???
The cameos from Death and Death of Rats were great, though, and welcome as always.
‘It takes a long time for people like Vorbis to die. They leave echoes in history.’

Pantheon (HM): Terry Pratchett offers a funny and satirical commentary on religion with this book.
The MC is a poor apprentice of the great god Om, that has turned into a tortoise.
I enjoyed the book, I always love the social commentary Pratchett has to offer, but I found some parts of the book to be a slog and got sometimes bored. However, there are great parallelisms with current religions that makes the reader wonder about the importance of gods.
