it was quite sad and quite detailed but very good and eye opening. De afweging van wel witch hunts in afrika wel of niet bespreekbaar maken was wel formulated.

Silvia does it again… truly a phenomenal text that puts witch hunts in the past in a historical context that illuminates its relationship to the development of capitalistic relations in conjunction with misogyny, talks about the rise of violence against women as a product of capitalism, and talks about present day witch hunts in Africa as products of colonization and a rising neoliberal order globally

please review to renee’s review of this book for my full opinion, i couldn’t word it better than they already have;
it lacks something. there’s an attempt of intersectionality, but it’s insufficient, and therefore it’s much more brief and less in-depth than the narrator makes out.
only reason for the two stars instead of one is because very very watered down, and summarised, some good points that i’ve never thought about/ heard about before were brought up that i will find useful to base my own ideas on in the future. but i probably wouldn’t read this again nor recommend it.

This was really interesting to read. A short history of witch-hunts and their continuation in the modern world. Has given much information about violence against women that I was not aware of. Recommend for any one Interested in women’s rights literature.
