Exceptionally darling. I have no idea what took me so long to finish this book. It is probably the thought that the first few chapters were so identical (a rare thing between books and its movie versions) to the movie that, although particularly engaging, it bored me.

However, I was still moved by it and I daresay that I was taken aback by its ending. I love everything about it, from Jesse, the rebelling and angsty teen who craves for attention, and his deepest and darkest thoughts to Julia, the spunky guardian ad litem, and her vulnerability when it comes to her first and only love.

I definitely recommend reading this book first before watching the movie. Both are spectacular but this gem will leave you breathless.

This book had potential to be great, and at times it really hooked me, but it was way too much fluff and not enough true deep conversations and ethical debate for me. Also the way the author writes in this book makes it very hard to read bc it’s so incredibly melodramatic. There are random dramatic anecdotes thrown in every two paragraphs that end with some message that is supposed to be “deep” but actually just sounds corny and makes no sense. Just look at the ending line of every passage and chapter. It’s very distracting.

I also didn’t need so many perspectives. It would honestly just have been best to hear only from Anna and maybe her mom. Too many perspectives and side characters (cough cough julia and campbell)

Kind of disappointed this book didn’t live up to its potential and I honestly wouldn’t recommend

For more than a year, women have been recommending [a:Jodi Picoult|7128|Jodi Picoult|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1198341937p2/7128.jpg] books to me and I didn't understand why they were so popular amongst so many people. Anyway, I friend recently lent me a few of her books and I pulled this one off the shelf one night and decided to read it. I assure you, I was not disappointed and soon came to realize what the interest in [a:Jodi Picoult|7128|Jodi Picoult|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1198341937p2/7128.jpg] is.

This book told such a human and complicated story about a family. It gripped me right from the beginning, which is not something that most books can do. The story was not only intriguing, but also interesting and well thought out. Even after the disappointing ending (which I did not see coming, by the way), I still felt that this was a really great book. It was heartfelt in every way and sort of reminded me of what it is like to be human. And I agree with Picoult on how the surprise ending was actually necessary in order to paint the full picture. I am looking forward to reading the next book on loan, [b:Plain Truth|14864|Plain Truth|Jodi Picoult|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1166668457s/14864.jpg|3375925].
