Minor spoiler for trigger warning

Tuppence and Tommy are Christie’s best. Unfortunately, this one has an unbelievably cruel thing that happens concerning a maternal relationship. If that’s a trigger for you, skip this book, as awful as the idea of missing out on the T&T universe is.

Too impressed with the duo after being involved in Hercule Poirot's world only. Best part is not everything was left for the last, there is something throughout.

'N or M?' será talvez mais revelador para quem conhece estas personagens de aventuras anteriores, no entanto não deixa de ser uma aventura interessante, com os seus apontamentos de comicidade, que nos faz ver um novo lado de Agatha Christie dentro do seu ambiente literário dos policiais. Uma história de guerra e de espionagem para quem não deixa passar uma obra prima sobre estes temas!

Tommy and Tuppence are back in this spy caper. It made me laugh/sigh that everybody is treating them as old and out of it while in their mid-40's, especially since I'm in the same age bracket. This time they are helping track down British masterminds who are supporting the Germans during WWII. I vaguely remembered who the bad people were but it was fun to see it unfold anyway.

When I found out that this book is about spies (yes, I realized that only after I started reading it), who are actually a married couple, I was disappointed. Who would want to read a story about spies set in world war two? Not this girl.
At first I didn't really like it. It was difficult for me to remember the characters' names and personalities and get on board with the world war two setting. The pace was slower and the book was generally hard to get into. After reaching 25% of the book, I started liking Tommy and Tuppence and vibing with the plot more. After more than 60% I started to really enjoy it but I had a strong suspicion that I know who one of the secret agents is. Actually no, scratch that, I was sure I knew. It was too obvious. And to my disappointment, it was who I thought it was. So. Obvious. (Even though I had no clue who the second one was and was positively surprised.)
But nevertheless, I relatively enjoyed it, there were fantastic plot twists, tense scenes, kidnappings and to my surprise, I got used to the world war theme. It was a strong challenge to write about this topic but Agatha handled it beautifully. I mean, she even made me, a person who would never enjoy a book about spies and world war two, like this book!

I do like listening to Agatha Christie's books. They make excellent companions as I drive around. This is the second Tommy & Tuppence audio I have listened to. The first takes place during World War I and I assume the second book is also during that time period.

This book is set when Tommy & Tuppence are "old" and supposedly unable to help with the war effort. Well, naturally they are not willing to sit still and just do nothing. The story is fun, easy to follow and not hard to listen to.

I will say that some parts are a bit disconcerting. Christie has some ideas about cultural types that we would no longer subscribe to. Once I got over the surprise, it did not really affect the story.
