HAVOC at Prescott High- C.M. Stunich

4/5 Stars! Hael, Aaron, Victor, Oscar, and Callum rule Prescott High. They call themselves H.A.V.O.C., but calling out that name is a known rule. Bernadette has been bullied by them for over a year. This year she has had enough. She has secrets and enemies and she isn't afraid to risk it all to seek revenge. She walks into class the first day her senior year and shouts the name everyone is afraid to utter, "HAVOC!" She owns them now, and they will help her get revenge on everyone who has ever wronged her excluding themselves. The price? They want her.

This book starts off with a punch and takes you through a roller coaster ride of adventure and emotions. I appreciate the author giving the five men completely different personalities and giving them individual times to shine. Reverse harems are something I only enjoy if I feel like each character brings a different attribute to the table. I also enjoyed all the secrets that emerge throughout the book. The boys are intense. Occasionally they are so intense that I find myself hating them instead of loving them, but they always end up redeeming themselves. Their intense natures make for great sexual tension amongst the group.

This book is good for those who enjoy an intense bully romance with a lot of secrets, surprises, and the aspect of one girl with a hoard of men. It definitely had me hooked from the beginning and tugged me through the series. I am looking forward to continuing the series in the near future.

Even though this book is set in the "real world"- It's Pure Fantasy (In a good way!)

This is where we meet Bernadette Blackbird, our main heroine, and the 5 boys of Havoc. I’m not going to lie; I almost added this book to my DNF (Do Not Finish) pile. But I think it physically pains me when I can’t finish a book, and I just wasn’t ready for the scar. That and this book came highly recommended from my book girlfriends in one of my online book clubs, so I persisted. And I’m glad I did. In my opinion, the first 200 pages were repetitive and probably could have been shortened to 50 pages-which Is why I give it only 3 stars. Having to wait through the first half of the book to actually start enjoying it is a bit much for me. Also, too many times we hear about the boy's tattooed bodies, how terrified she was of them, and what calling Havoc means. I found myself rolling my eyes every time I saw the word- Ebon.

Once I got past those first few hundred pages, I was hooked. The Havoc boys start out as a high school dangerous clique type, but over this series turn into a violent gang, with adversaries in and out of the school. The fun thing about this gang, is they also as the town vigilantes in a strange way, protecting the town but hurting them (if you read it it’ll make more sense I promise). Bernadette recruits them by calling out Havoc and handing them her list to avenge her sister's suicide and get revenge on those that molested- or tried to molest- her and her sister from their terrible childhood. Her price? Becoming one of them.

C.M. does it again

Another fantastic world to get lost in. Broken people, crazy world. C.M. Stunich is such an amazing author. Can't wait to read the next one.

DNF 87%

she literally said that she should be thankful because they (havoc) didn’t rape or kill her.
I mean this is fucked up in SO MANY WAYS

This was entertaining but I can see why some readers would not like this... Havoc has been taking my mind off exams and stress, so I'm going to continue with this series.

FRASES Y MOMENTOS DESTACADOS

“What happened to you? You used to be so …” He reaches out and lifts a lock of my hair, tossing a dark smirk my direction. “Sweet.”
“You.”

Vic says, leaning back on the steps, his expression the most difficult one to read. Hael looks like he wants to bend me over the hood of his car; Oscar looks like he wants to do my fucking taxes; Callum has a much darker, scarier expression on his face. But it’s Aaron who looks like he might want to kill me.

Sometimes, when I feel like this, I'm certain that I'm a ghost, come from the grave for vengeance. There's no way I could be alive, not with the way I feel. Living things shouldn't be so full of misery.

I've been stripped bare in my heart and soul, had my emotions torn off and tossed aside. He thinks I give a shit about being naked?

“Apologize to Bernadette,” Vic commands, and I shiver. That's a voice made to control armies, to start riots, to incite violence.

“I asked you not to move, and you didn't listen,” he says, his voice this dark thread of fire that curls around me, blue flame dancing with menace. Sure, it's all metaphorical, but the fact that the guy's voice is powerful enough to make me see in poetry is pretty impressive.

When Vic’s gaze passes up to mine, it’s like watching the moon eclipse the sun, cutting off all the light but somehow making it more beautiful in the process.

Confucius says dig two graves before embarking on a journey of revenge. But what if that revenge is the only thing keeping you alive? And what if the people you're seeking revenge on deserve it? If Batman had just killed the Joker from the get-go, how many more people would still be alive? Sometimes the bad guys have to die, so if I have to dig two graves, so be it. Better than digging three.

I'm completely numb without you.

“This is, like, twenty years together married couple level.”
“That'll be us someday.”

Rating: 3.5 stars

I enjoyed my read, but I kept wanting a bit more. More connection, more tension, more emotions. It had great potential though and I was hesitating to continue the series, because it was still entertaining overall.

The structure of the story was not like what I'm used to see in bully romances. The bully part is already in the past, so you get mention of those moments that make you hate the guys, at the same time that you get to know them and are supposed to fall in love with them. This got confusing for me and seemed to rob me of the expected emotionnal breakdown from the main female character (from the bullying period) and them having to grovel and earn forgiveness. To be fair though, the latter may be planned in the following books in the series.
