I hate to say it because it feels disloyal to M. C. Beaton, but Hamish Macbeth's new author, R. W. Green, crafts a really good story. I found it easier to read and follow, with more depth to the characters and situations. I hope he writes more!
As always, these books are just pure fun for me. Hamish is a lovable character, as are most of the subcharacters. I loved his American partner in this one and hope he returns.

This is a very fast and enjoyable read for fans of MC Beaton and cozy mysteries. It takes us back into the remote and wild beauty of the Scottish Highlands and the sleepy village of Lochdubh and the ever dependable and unchanging constable, Hamish Macbeth

Take away: I like R.W.'s version of Hamish.
Narration: David Monteath - he is a new reader. The other one passed away. Monteath was good. I didn't have trouble getting used to him.

Listening to this book was a chore.
I'm glad I listened to this book.
I didn't want this book to end.
I could not wait to be done with this book.
Average, but better than anything I've written.
