One of my favorite YA books so far this year.
It, like, hardly ever happens. The perfect game. A complete game pitched by on pitcher with no one reaching first base. Some of the best pitchers who have played the game never pitch a perfect game. But in 1981, when Michael Flint steps on the mound in the 9th inning with 2 out and a full count, he is just one pitch away from a perfect game. Then the catcher calls for a curveball—a pitch that, for Michael, is much more likely to bounce in the dirt than it is to make it over the plate. But some days are just perfect. Some days just offer themselves up like a special gift. Some days the sun smiles and the grass laughs and a boy in Brooklyn just might pitch a perfect game. Follow Michael and his family on a trip through time and history as they experience American life and play baseball through nine generations in nine innings. “The Brooklyn Nine” by Alan Gratz

It gets rounded up to four, because, baseball. I liked the book and the concept behind it. However, I was always left wanting more from each story. Some had cliffhanger endings that bugged me, and others that worked surprisingly well. I did feel like the writing was a little bit scattered sometimes, but I enjoyed it

I had to read this for work, and was not looking forward to it because i have zero interest in sports. it pleasantly surprised me though, and was much better than I would have expected a sports book to be. Full of historical tidbits and actually thoroughly entertaining. A fun read.

I listened to this book on Audible.
I'm not sure why this book hasn't taken off more. Every chapter "inning" tells the story of the next generation in this family (who all love baseball).
Each story is different, but all intriguing and they all fit together.
There are special connections made between generations, and the ending, I didn't think it could do it, but it was just so great.
Read this book!
