It was okay. I liked some aspects but found it was a little too odd and got really heavy handed with the religious allegory stuff. I really thought the ending was a little much in terms of length though the 'surprise' at the end wasn't all that surprising. The only thing that made me think that that wasn't the case was that I thought it was too dark, but I guess he wanted to go that dark.

The Dwarfs are awful and the way the Calormenes are portrayed is yikes.

Genuinely one of the worst books I have ever read in terms of quality of writing, pacing, and plot. Also, why does Lewis hate women so much?

as I previously said I had a feeling that after the third book it was about to go downhill and it definitely did, what the actual fuck? the amount of things that are wrong with this book make me want to barf and I am sorry I ever considered bunny the worst book of the year for this one has earned the throne (I will now proceed to read some nice Christmas smut by Tessa Bailey so I can cleanse the palate, okay?) my childhood is ruined if you really want to "enjoy Narnia" just go and watch the movies with the hot ben barnes and do not waste your time reading this bullshit I do not have the mental stability to sit here and write all that is wrong with this book so I will leave you a review I think summed it up pretty well:

This is complicated. The start of this book was genuinely amazing because everything starts falling apart so well. Like I felt emotions, or at least a slight emptiness. But then you get to the brownface and racial slurs just being thrown around, and it's so jarring. There were definitely parts in other books where it seemed slightly racist or xenophobic, but the book/tale was still mostly based around the fantasy/fun (like in book 3, The Horse and His Boy). It left you in a weird, "Is this what he's going for" vibe? However, this book just comes right out and says that shit. The only other thing is that like the first book being more religious than most of the others, this last one is in that same boat. Overall that's totally fine as it was what the series as a whole was written after, and it gives everybody throughout the series a good ending, which is nice. But that middle still just has me even after the great start and decent end that brought it all together. Sad to see it go that way. Overall, I'd say it was a decent series, and I'm glad to have finally read it after owning it since childhood. But I will never forget that he wrote this now and would never let mine or anyone’s children just read this book on their own.
