Attracting More Than Opposites

4.5 stars - This takes place decades after the prequel, with Ross being nearly fifty now. His "Flower", Delilah, is the opposite of what he thought he wanted and it's fantastic! She may be submissive in the bedroom but outside it, she speaks her mind and has quite the independent streak. I loved the push and pull!

Although there is a short prequel, this is the first book in a new series. While this will provide you with a very satisfying HEA, the author takes care to let us know that there is an overreaching story arc. This means that the story isn't all nicely tied up at the conclusion of the book. While the characters were great, both individually and together, the writing did feel a bit clunky at times
If you don't let that bother you then this is well situated to turn into a great series with drama and mystery.

I read the prequel for this series and have been anticipating it with enthusiasm. Those who haven’t read the prequel miss nothing but it was fun.

This book stands totally alone from the prequel, though the authors do advise and it is true that the quartet has an overarching storyline that is not completed in this story. The romance between the two main characters is, though, and that’s what’s important for me!

I enjoyed the story and the character interactions but I did feel that there were several opportunities for character and relationship development that were overlooked, or maybe skipped over to allow for space for the overarching plot line?

The sex scenes were enjoyable, appropriately negotiated, and totally involving but I felt that they were let down by the missed other opportunities.

The story is dual POV, which I prefer, and well written. An ARC was provided for me, so editing was not 100% but I assume the release copy has been fixed. I received the advanced reader copy in exchange for this voluntary, honest review.

Delving Deep is the first in Karen Nappa's Quinn Quartet, about a group of siblings with interests in BDSM falling in love in a small town. While the romance is self-contained in this book, there's a bit of a mystery storyline that continues through to the rest of the series.

I loved most of Nappa's Club Indigo seires, so I was looking forward to something new, but this book just didn't meet my expectations. The romance was awkward in places, and the book suffered from pacing issues. I didn't feel the chemistry between the characters like I had in previous Nappa books. The mystery story line was fine, and a good addition seeing that the MCs are a county commissioner and an investigative reporter. It's not a bad book, but I was hoping for something better.
