I enjoyed this story even though I thought the male protagonist was a douche.
Layla returns to Pittsburgh 10 years after an accident and subsequent coma causes the memory loss of an entire year if her life. While going through her recently deceased father's belongings, she finds a receipt for an astronomical amount of money. She heads to the company that issued the check to her father and meets Nathan Sinclair.
After meeting Nathan, Layla is left with more questions than answers, including questions about her past relationship with Nathan. Although she is blackmailed by him and treated quite poorly, Layla can't seem to stop herself from wanting Nathan.
This relationship in the real world would be soooo toxic and dangerous, but it works in this story. Nathan is aggressive, angry and even downright hostile at times. Layla's sweetness and innocence help her past his nasty demeanor and helps to tame the savage beast that is Nathan.
