I really enjoyed this cute historical romance after a heavy fantasy book. The romance aspect was so cute and I was screaming!!!

I loved Annabell, she's strong-willed in a way I like. Simon rubbed me the wrong way at some moments but after they were married they had some of their best interactions together.
The ending with the fire, going in after him, him angry she didn't save herself, realizing they love each other, their declarations and finding their homes in each other was really beautifully written ❤️

this book was SUCH a good introduction to Lisa Kleypas!

where Tessa Dare brought more heat and a more modern shape to her historical romance (think: final act breakups), Lisa Kleypas brings the swoon and packs a hefty punch!

Annabelle and Simon were such a delight - two people who clearly loved each other even if neither could bear to admit it. Simon was a total simp, and Annabelle the kind of woman who doesn't subscribe to the belief that men know best.

i've never met a fictional Simon i haven't liked, and Simon Hunt is no exception. especially every time he called her sweetheart or sweet, BEFORE THEY WERE EVEN ENGAGED

We love a man who knows how to lean in a doorway!

I really enjoyed the will-they-won’t-they between Annabelle and Simon, but the back half of the novel really fizzled for me. I still will read the next one because I’m intrigued by the interconnecting storylines of each wallflower!
