I actually found this book rather hard to rate because on one hand I found it very beautiful and incredibly charming, and highly admirable that this book is proof of the authors struggle with loss and depression. For that, I LOVED this book.
On the other hand however, it's not what I was expecting, I think a better title might have been The Heart of Creatures. I just think it was almost falsly advertised. I was really hoping I was going to read about the lives of various animals, not the authors life with these animals. So for that, I was disappointed.
Overall though I have to give it 4 stars because at the end of the day it was a very warming read.
