"Tengo un enorme agujero donde solía estar mi corazón, y no sé cómo se supone que debo seguir caminando como si fuera una persona completa. No lo soy. Tengo la sospecha furtiva de que nunca volveré a serlo".

I'm sad. I wanted more. More spice maybe? I feel like the scenes didn't have the same ring as Aurora's in previous books. I get that these were more complicated for her, but I don't know. It just didn't hit the way previous Aurora scenes did...

One of my favorites of the series. I’ve always wondered what Arita’s story was from the other books and this really was a great conclusion.

This one was ok, probably my least favourite in the series. Didn’t feel much of a connect between Malone and Aurora. I think maybe if the book was longer that connection would have been felt more. I liked the small glimpses we got from a few of the other characters in the series. Nice easy story to follow, did feel quite similar to the other books in the series.

Katee has become one of my top authors to read, I love the BDSM aspects of the stories from this series & I love that it is done properly. She clearly is either in the lifestyle or did extensive research & it shows. As for this specific story, the characters are great & have good build & the plot was nicely done & paced. I love how they interacted & even though they had difficulties they eventually worked through them. Communication is super big & she has a great way of showing in her stories that sometimes communicating is extremely difficult & sometimes we make mistakes in handling it, but she also shows a good balance of how to navigate fixing that & finding healthy ways to bridging that barrier. The only real reason I didn't give this a full 5 stars was just my own personal preferences, it's not my usual taste I don't normally read or go for FF based reads but I wanted to finish out the series. And even though it isn't my normal it still was a great story— again just not my preference so I wasn't super into it & wanting to devour it fully. Otherwise it's a great read for anyone who does have that taste in reads & it's definitely super delicious in the spice department. 🌶️

DID NOT FINISH: 47%

Like my own fairy godmother, I've decided to free myself from the curse of finishing this series. LOL.

These books can be read out of order because there's minimal world-building and no overarching plot to the series. This book was a carbon copy of the plot in book 5, which in turn copied book 4. Only difference is that we have a sex machine instead of a menage (seriously). Book felt phoned in and formulaic. Age-gap, BDSM, "let's take two weeks to f--- our problems out," and "oops, now I want to keep you." I might have dealt with it, but truly offensive is that instead of giving Malone and Aurora a real, satisfying story, the author plants a giant freaking billboard for an entirely different series in the middle of this book. I dipped out midway through a 20-30 minute introduction to the politics of Sabine Valley (a series which, BTW, this author has never finished). Sucks to have invested 5 books into Carver City and come away feeling like the author was already onto the next thing and didn't really care where these two characters ended up.
