I just need to hug a bunch of trees

What I liked: redefining "manged forests" used for timber as wood plantations, science of how these differ from native old growth ecosystems
What I didn't like: the actual goal of the book, which is to show our ancient bond with forests. He may have done this better if he had really stuck with his German forest and gone into history, but instead this whole bit was vague and based on an assumption that most people have no appreciation of nature or trees (I disagree).
Listened on audiobook.

I didn’t finish this book. It drives me crazy not to finish books, but it also drives me crazy to read something so disorganized and random. The book is supposedly about trees, but I think it is around chapter nine that he even begins talking about them. There are some interesting science facts; but it’s like he wrote a bunch of things on index cards, put them in a bag, shook it up, then pulled them out and put together the book in the order they were drawn.

It was a god listen but definitely felt all over the place at times. There was a lot of information that was kind of thrown together to help get a point across, sometimes it felt unnecessary or unnatural. Overall a good Earth Day read/listen!

This was good, but not quite what I was hoping for.   The author is clearly passionate and knowledgeable about trees and forests.  However, I found it somewhat disjointed and choppy.  While much of this book was rooted in science, other parts (especially regarding plant consciousness) felt that they were more rooted in philosophy.  In the end, I found it largely meandering and repetitive and I struggled to remain engaged and interested.

Lots of great Tree facts, hopefully and playful analogies. Very Eurocentric so keep that in mind.
