Excelente. After watching his TED videos several times with my classes, I thought I'd give the book a try...and I am so glad that I did! IF I can find a way to incorporate some of these thoughts into my course, I will!!!
This book is well-written, engaging, and thought-provoking for those of us in education who are wary of the standards-based education our kids our getting these days. The book doesn't provide the reader with an easy solution - maybe because there is none, but it does provide some examples of education gone right and (very very) wrong.
I read this through the lens of professor, but also parent in terms of what I will encourage as my own children grow and discover 'their element'!

I read this as part of the community read for work, but also as I was contemplating a career change myself. Robinson makes so many great points about the lack of creativity in our current education system. As a musician and artist, I found myself identifying with so many featured in the book, even though I did excel at traditional school subjects, the creativity was seen as an "extra" - not something to make a career of. I'm glad that I didn't listen and am on the path to a career in the arts.
Everyone interested in finding the things that make them fly and anyone interested in helping others learn how to make the most of their lives will want to read this book. It is great.
The Element is an inspiring read about what happens when you do what you love, and what that means not only for you, but for those around you and the world. Well written, a fairly quick read, well worth the time.
Good message, but slightly repetitive throughout. I'm more interested in reading his followup book about "Finding your Element."
I enjoyed reading it but it never seemed to take shape in someways -- sort of meandering from tale to tale. Encouraging more than directing -- which I guess is in complete keeping with what he's on about.

Sir Ken Robinson reads his book, so I was utterly enthralled in an eight-hour TED Talk.
Inspiring.
Inspiring.
informative
slow-paced
Good information in the start, WAY to much antidote stuff, didn't really find anything beyond the the 3rd chapter of any sustenance
