Whewww….. one thing I can say is that the twists hit you right in the face … I DIDNT see them coming. I thought I had worked it out but then I was spun. The ending kinda left me wondering about a lot and a lil unsatisfied. Overall I really recommend this book.

This book was fun & twisty, but it felt rushed.
McFadden’s writing is very fast-paced and entertaining, but the characters fell flat for me. The mc was so oblivious throughout that it was difficult to empathize or care much about the characters.

🐜 The Boyfriend by Freida McFadden 🐜

MY RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sydney Shaw has had nothing but bad luck dating in New York—until she meets the perfect man: charming, handsome, and a doctor. But when a string of women are murdered by someone they were dating, Sydney begins to suspect her dream guy might be hiding something deadly. Someone is watching her... and she might be next.

This was good! I listened to the audio and didn’t want to stop. I guessed some of the plot twists but still enjoyed it and wanted to know what would happen next. The men in this book were super creepy and uncomfortable, and I felt a couple of things were kind of disjointed, but overall I enjoyed this and would recommend it for a fast paced thriller!

One day read!

FORMAT: Combo of physical & audio (2 narrators for the dual POVs, Tom & Sydney)

REVIEW: Sydney Shaw thinks she’s finally found the perfect man—charming, handsome, and a doctor—after a string of terrible dates. But when a series of murders points to a killer who dates his victims, her dream romance takes a dark turn. With someone watching her every move, Sydney must uncover the truth before she becomes the next victim.

RECAP: In addition to the dual POVs, we also have dual timelines. There was one twist that I didn't see coming, so that was fun! However, Sydney was one of the most frustrating, self-absorbed protagonists I’ve read—naive, shallow, and completely lacking growth. Her story revolves around dating struggles, jealousy, bad choices, and ends with no real development. She felt more like a cardboard cutout than a character.

God the main character Sydney is painfully dumb and so desperate for love she ignored blant red flags and warning signs.

Her mother needs to get a life constantly ringing her pressuring her to have kids when she isnt even in a relationship- what?

The twist is good, I don't think anyone could have seen it coming, but not the best FMF book.

Definitely didn’t see that coming. The twist is absolutely diabolical. All the male characters are creepy as shit — it really could’ve been anyone. This book kept me enthralled. I finished it in 24 hours. Plot is pretty realistic as well which I appreciate in a thriller.
