I predicted the ending but still enjoyed the read. A sad tale really, far more that than a ghost story.

It's so ferociously good, and i will have to read it a second time to really understand it.
There are so, so many good quotes & bonkers interjections, I just love it.

" 'No', she thought, 'you are not going to catch me so cheaply; I do not understand words, and will not accept them in trade for my feelings; this man is a parrot.' "

"Luke was wrong about the softness everywhere, because the trees are hard like wooden trees."

I loved the first third, it lost me a little in the second third and got me hooked again at the end.
I was immediately taken with the character and the writting syle.
All of the character were distinct. I honestly thought that it might be gay love story between Theodora and Eleanor but i still enjoyed it.
I found the characters endering at the start and the book was able to balnce humor with horror. It sort of lost this by the halfway point however.

Ominous, creepy, and compelling. Meanders a bit at times, but snaps you right back to attention and keeps you in suspense. Also one of the best openings to any book I’ve ever read.
