Claimed by the Orc Prince by Lionel Hart

This was a quick read that moved along at a spritely pace while still peddling a fairly believable relationship. I am a big fan of fantasy setting, opposites making the best of a situation, and the physical size difference! Nothing better than a giant monstrous softy and seeing that side slowly uncovered contrary to the other character's expectations. I think the "villain" was a bit weak and the climax led to several rash decisions which I had a bit trouble believing. However, I'm a sucker for this whole setup, so I definitely liked the ending and look forward to more.

This book was quite interesting. I'll say I've read a few books that had male pregnancy so when this got into I was like "Okay?". Overall it was a fun quick read. I can't wait to see what happens next since it is part of a series.

I thought the couple was cute. I wanted to protect them so much!! I almost cried in this one.

Very just ok. The romance was very unearned and when they first exchanged “I loved you”s, my first thought was “wait, what? Already? Why??” So by the third act conflict, the conflict seemed silly because there wasn’t enough substance to the relationship to justify such strong feelings.

The sex scenes felt repetitive after a while (no head? Really?) and the world building was thin. The world felt underpopulated and under-realised. Like, elves have been at war with each other since time immemorial but the only lasting impact of that culturally is that people take a little bit to warm up to your orc husband? And then when they do warm up to him, it’s “oh damn, he fights good so we respect him”.

I’ll read the next book in the series because there’s enough here that I’m curious what becomes of their romance. But I’m not gonna rush to find the next book, or keep tabs on the author.

The pacing was a little odd at times but the character development was really nice. A good read.
