Grinning, giggling, smiling, snorting, let me count ALL the ways that Kayley had me enjoying Attachment Theory. I can guarantee that every positive and happy emotion flew out of my mouth and showed on my face while reading, it was absolutely delightful.

Attachment Theory is fun, light hearted, and contains one of Kayley's swooniest hero's to date. It was easy to get attached to Dylan Brodie, although I admit I fall pretty easy for ALL of Loring's leading men, but Dylan - by far - was the dreamiest and easiest one to fall for.

Dylan Brodie is a man who loves love. I'm not talking about in the sheets, nakey time love, although he is a master at that as well (didn't I mention he's full-total swoon worthy). No, Dylan is a relationship guy. He is a guy who likes to be needed, a guy who likes affection, and who wants purpose with the girl he's dating. To top off his superior love skills, Dylan also likes his family, even when they pick on him, he's laid back, easy going, and just extremely likeable. Dylan Brodie is the total package and I totally adored him 10,000%, except for one teeny tiny flaw. He's a bit of a serial dater, and his relationships only last as long as his acting jobs do. Dylan has a habit of falling for his leading co-star, but once you get to know Dylan, I think that flaw might be based more on the shallowness of the women he dates and not due to Dylan himself. I could be biased, but I'll stand by my decision.

Scarlett Shephard is kind of a hotmess who is also extremely likable. She's a single mom with the most adorable little boy, Noah. While Scarlett is just trying to keep her life together and Noah on track to do his homework, her son unknowingly befriends Dylan when Dylan visits Noah's school for career day. They bond over a lost kitten, whom they name Mr. Noodles, and since Dylan is basically a child himself their friendship is born and Mr. Noodles comes home to live with Dylan. Scarlett unknowingly becomes Dylan's therapist, is fate playing her hand with the Shephard family? I believe so. I love fate. Dylan is looking to solve his serial relationship problems, but it's hard to help the gorgeous man when they can barely contain their attraction to one another, which is a huge ethical problem for Scarlett. Can the issue be solved if Dylan finds another therapist or will Scarlett dump him before they ever really dated?

This story is so funny and filled with tons of chemistry, it was impossible to put down. Add in hilarious, meddling parents on both Scarlett and Dylan's sides of the family, meddling texts from Dylan's siblings, and so much humor from beginning to end, I loved it extra hard!! Do yourself a favor and pick up this book because Kayley Loring never disappoints.

Attachment Theory
The Brodie Brothers, Book 2
By: Kayley Loring
Narrated by: Zachary Webber, Emily Woo Zeller, Jason Clarke, Teddy Hamilton, Mackenzie Cartwright, Connor Crais, Emma Wilder

How does Kayley Loring do it? Every time I listen to one of her books, I think this is the best she has written. Each one hysterically funny, easy to relate to and ah the romance! These Brodie men are the best! We met Dylan in Owen's story, and no, you don't have to listened to Owen to understand this one, they all stand alone(but grab it anyway, you will want to!). Falling in love with his co-stars is a given with each of his acting jobs. But now he is home. And circumstances bring him into the orbit of a woman he met in passing several years ago. The draw he feels is still there. Scarlett is a therapist and mother, divorced from an actor and has no intentions of getting involved with another. There is something about Dylan though. Witty banter, an amazing child(Noah steals the show with his random trivia), engaging emails and a falling in love story that had my earbuds latched in from beginning to end. I could not stop! Laughing out loud is the best, and that warm feeling in your heart as they fall in love is just icing on the cake. I absolutely love this and can't wait for the Miles, the grumpy one who I know I will fall for the hardest!

I do think that Kayley has a cast in mind as she writes because it is the only way should could match them so perfectly. Zachary Webber is fantastic as Dylan. He has that carefree, playboy sound with an amazing comedic timing. Not to mention his amazing ability to do child voices. Emily Woo Zeller is Scarlett! From the first line, I could feel how connected she is with her character, giving her the nuances and feelings to make her real. Add in the incredible talents of the full cast, and I could not have been a happier listener!

Kayley Loring has astonished me once again. Attachment Theory was everything I love, laughs, a swoony hero, but there was something extra special in the pages of Dylan and Scarlett’s story.

Scarlett is a single mom, a therapist, a daughter, and those things were what she was focused on, after her divorce she wasn’t sure about opening her heart again. She was sassy, but her caring nature was what truly stole my heart. Her brand of weird was a whole lotta entertaining and maybe (or a lot) relatable.

Dylan was SWOONY, (shouty caps were necessary, trust me) This man with a huge heart that had a habit of falling hard and fast for women, only to have them leave, and yet he never closed up or gave up the idea of finding the type of love his parents had found in one another.

He was charming, witty, sweet, add in his dirty talking side, you have the perfect recipe for a new favorite book boyfriend. Gosh, he was just unique, like his entire personality was just a mix of “oh, he's adorable” to “ovary exploding hotness”

The first time they met there was clearly something between them in those moments they were embedded into one another’s soul. It was insane how at first glance you would assume because of each of their pasts that they weren’t compatible, but really every side of who they were past present and future, it was like a neon sign flashing above their head that said “soulmate”

I was prepared to be hit in the feels, but I hadn’t expected for these characters' inner thoughts to at times be a reflection of my own. I love that the character’s in Loring’s books might be celebrities, yet they are all so easy to relate to.

A few words and I was immersed into the Brodie Brothers world as if I’d never left. A spellbinding blend of soul searing chemistry, a SWOONY hero, a benevolent heroine, fraught with witty banter, laughs, giggles, an array of feels, a few tears leaked out, scorching steam, and a family abounding in love with a dynamic that makes you feel like you’re a part of the Brodie family.

How did Kayley know that this was exactly the fun listen I needed? Loved this sweet story. And I can’t say enough about the duet narration & all star cast. Zachary Webber & Emily Woo Zeller were the perfect narrators for this story. Teddy Hamilton, Jason Clarke, Connor Crais, Emma Wilder & MacKenzie Cartwright were all amazing as well.

Attachment Theory is the second book in the Brodie Brothers series. It was another hit for Kayley Loring! It was downright hilarious, and I loved the characters. The emails really liven up the story and Mama Brodie's texts had me laughing so hard I cried. If you are looking for a fast-paced swoony romance that will have you rolling on the floor, this is it. Definitely, a must-read! I can’t wait to see what Kayley Loring has in store for us next.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Sexy and fun Romantic Comedy

What you need to know about “Attachment Theory”:
✔ Older Woman, Younger Man Romance
✔ Dual Point of View
✔ Celebrity Romance
✔ Dylan Brodie, 27, actor, model, love addict?
✔ Scarlett Shepard, 33, therapist, divorced Mom
✔ Romantic Comedy
✔ The Brodie Brothers #2
✔ Can be read as Complete Standalone

Dylan and Scarlett met three years ago very briefly in a store. She was leaving, her hands were full, her shoes were untied. Dylan noticed the beautiful Scarlett and offered to tie her shoes then dropped to his knees and tied them for her.

Dylan then tried to get a date. When Scarlett found out he was an actor and younger than her, she refused. But three years later she still thinks about Dylan Brodie dropping to his knees in front of her. A lot.

Present day, Dylan is looking for a new therapist. His reason being, he dates every female co-star he works with and it always ends badly. For him. Scarlett has been recommended to him so he contacts her leaving the ball somewhat in Scarlett’s court. Scarlett thinks that by accepting Dylan as a patient it will prevent her from having any prohibited thoughts about him. Hahahahaha!

Scarlett tries really hard not to flirt and think about Dylan but it’s a losing battle. For both of them.

It was great to see the Brodie family again and witness their shenanigans as they TRY to support Dylan through his relationship with Scarlett. Dylan Brodie is the baby of the Brodie family and he doesn’t feel that they take him seriously. His romantic history doesn’t do him any favors either. Poor Dylan.

I enjoyed Dylan’s growth from boy to man and his realization that Scarlett and her son were what was most important in his life.

Scarlett was an immense treat to read. From the gopher in her head to the punk mom band lyrics and the tweets she’d never send, she was a fully realized and really entertaining and vulnerable character.

Attachment Theory is Kayley Loring at her finest. It is light, funny as hell and extra steamy with a dash of vulnerability and angst. It was such a pleasure to read. I ate it up like a delicious treat.

This may be one of my fave audiobooks EVER! This was a whole cast of narrators and it was amazing, funny, touching, sad, hopeful, hot!!! And if Jacob Morgan saying “baby” doesn’t rev your engine - get your ears checked.

Scarlett and Dillion have an adorable meet cute at a grocery store in LA but she’s coming off a divorce from an actor and also feels Dillions too young for her (6 yrs younger) so she turns him down. Fast forward 3 years and the stars collide and she finds him in her office as new patient at her therapy practice. No sexy time happens while he’s a patient so don’t worry if that is a no go for you. Dillion has a habit of dating his costars, he’s an actor, also an issue for Scarlett. He wants to learn how to either make relationships last or keep himself from falling for the wrong women every time. It’s clear from the jump these two are super compatible and must find a way to be together!! Once they get together - HOLY HOTNESS!!

In typical Kayley fashion, this book is hilarious! And the son is such a great addition (if you worry the kid ruins it). Plus, Scarlett’s mom is Chinese and her dad is white so the interactions with her family are amazing and have so much depth since we get more diversity!! Dillion’s family is an integral part of the plot and are incredible.

This is absolutely worth the credit! I’ve already got book 1 and 3 on deck - you don’t have to read them in order.

My cat parenting attachment style appears to be ‘anxious but very sexy.’
—Dylan, SVRCP (Sexy and Very Responsible Cat Parent)

I only made it 3% into the book when I realized it takes place in the same fictional universe as [b: Sleeper by Kayley Loring]—which I ended up DNF-ing. This created some doubts about whether I’d be able to enjoy this book, since it was the author’s storytelling style that I had previously struggled with. But Attachment Theory had something going for it that Sleeper didn’t…Dylan Brodie. Dylan had managed to steal my heart before the end of the prologue, and it was for this cinnamon-roll alone that I stuck around until the last page.

What I Liked:

DYLAN. BRODIE. This sweet, vulnerable, adorable man deserves the world.

”Maybe kittens and therapists should stop being so fucking cute if they don’t want me to adore them so much.”

Well Mr. Brodie, maybe you should stop being so f*cking cute if you don’t want me to adore you so much.

➵ I’m not usually a fan of group texts, but I wouldn’t mind if the Brodie family added me to theirs!

DYLAN: I think I’m falling for my new therapist.
OWEN: Widening my eyes in surprise…
DYLAN: It’s not what you think.
OWEN: Nodding my head thoughtfully…
DYLAN: It’s not like with my co-stars. And it’s not transference.
OWEN: Shaking my head in agreement…
DYLAN: Okay, you know what? I thought you were the only person I could talk to about this, but you’re no better than Miles. This is exactly why I like her—she actually listens to me.
MILES: Because you’re paying her to—she’s your therapist.
DYLAN: Shit. I thought this was the one with just Owen and me.
MILES: No, it’s the one with the brother who got you twelve names of male therapists because he knew this would happen.
OWEN: To be fair, I also knew this would happen. But I was trying to be optimistic.
MILES: Fuck optimism. He’s 27. He’s already fallen for more than enough unavailable women in one lifetime.
MILES: What—no defensive response?
MILES: You switched to the other group text, didn’t you?

➵ Both of the MC’s families. Their dynamics were hilarious and endearing.

What I Disliked:

➵ Unfortunately I had the same issue with the storytelling that I did with Sleeper. Despite loving many of the characters, I never felt immersed in the story. Too much of the story was told through the characters’ inner monologues; I felt like I was reading a compilation of diary entries and transcripts of the mc’s every. single. thought and fantasies. instead of a romance story.

➵ Scarlett wasn’t my favorite heroine. Is it possible that my criticism towards her is in part due to my belief that nobody’s good enough for Dylan Brodie? 100% yes. My opinion of her changed for the better once she and Dylan finally got together.

➵ Speaking of Scarlett and Dylan finally getting together—it took way too long. I did not enjoy waiting for almost half of the book for Scarlett to finally stop fighting her attraction to Dylan. In my opinion she should have dismissed him as a patient by the end of their first session when she knew that the “inappropriate” feelings they had towards each other were mutual. Drawing it out just got on my nerves.

This book was so much fun from beginning to end. Dylan and Scarlett have instant chemistry from the moment they met and even though Scarlett tries to fight it she can’t. I love the relationship Dylan forms with Noah, Scarlett’s son, their first meeting had me laughing so hard. The text threads were absolutely delightful, especially Mama Brodie and hands down my favorite part of the book. The last epilogue had me swooning so hard. Kayley does a perfect job of mixing comedy and romance, I’m always looking forward to reading/listening to one of her books.

I loved every moment of this multi-cast audio. Zachary Webber and Emily Woo Zeller blew me away with their performances as Dylan and Scarlett. Connor, Jason, Teddy, Mackenzie and Emma added so much to this audio as the supporting cast. The text threads were absolute perfection. This was 5-star listen and highly recommend.
