Go read "The Goal", or "The Phoenix Project", "The DevOps Handbook", and "Accelerate" instead.

CI/CD makes the difference!

It was a great read, but I think the Phoenix Project.

Okay after all I said about the Phoenix Project i did go and read the followup. Perhaps because it is written more from a developer experience I found this more engaging.

There should be a category for this sort of Tech Fiction which is the equivalent of reading romance or science fiction, or crime novels that you know it is all going to come out all right in the end The good guys can code or fix any problem are fabulous with their families and their teams, the projects will be a success and everyone will work positively together after a few awkward conversations. I think I'm going to count this as a guilty pleasure that relives the frustration of working on real software projects.

Again it beats reading the dry manuals and text books on the subject.

Book for people who interact with software devs. Good story of creating a better work environment. For me, it was a lot of repeating of what I already know.

Abysmal, but triggered really great discussion in the work book club, at least.

Brilliant follow up to the previous

The format is great, a entertaining story combined with familiar elements from your work life. A lot of familiar things, packaged as great reminders, combined with aspects and nuances I had not fully realized before.

I found the context and learnings to be more interesting than the Phoenix project, with my background more focused on this area. The story, I felt, was not as captivating though. The familiar names and events from the Phoenix project were interesting and added to the experience.
