- What happens when a true crime podcast host is confronted with her own violent past? A lot.
- When listening to this book, I would audibly gasp and my jaw would drop regardless of the fact I was listening in public.
- This book is full of twists and turns; essentially every other chapter I would think I knew what was going to happen and then change my mind the next moment.
- What I found really compelling was the relationship between Poe and her father. Having been estranged since her mother’s death, terrible circumstances bring them back together. It’s endearing to see.
- Narrators Allyson Ryan and Patrick Zeller do a phenomenal job. Allyson manages to capture Poe’s dry humor and deep grief and can flip between the two in an instant. Patrick Zeller is the perfect creep, and I mean that as the highest compliment.
- If you’re looking for an interesting take on true crime podcasts, a thrilling mystery, and some flawed characters, look no further.

"They say it's always darkest before the dawn. Wrong. Sometimes the light that comes after the dark is the worst thing imaginable."

I do love a thriller with a podcast angle, so it's easy to understand why I couldn't resist adding Tell Me What You Did straight after reading the blurb. I've been looking forward to read it ever since, and I'm happy to announce that I ended up having an absolute blast reading this intense and darker than expected thriller. This was my first time trying Carter Wilson's writing, and I will definitely be back for more in the future.
This is one of those books where it's best to go in blind to fully appreciate the plot and twists, so I'm going to try and keep this review short... What I can say that if you like a true crime podcast angle in your thrillers, you are in for an absolute treat with this one. Not only is the podcast itself one that I wouldn't mind listening to in real life, but it also plays a crucial role in the plot itself. It is what makes this story stand out for me, and I liked what the interview format added to the plot. It didn't slow down the pace at all; in fact, it only helped me turn those pages even faster.
I don't want to give away to o much, but Poe Webb sure makes for an intriguing main character. She hasn't had an easy life and certain events in her past have most definitely marked her. It makes her decision to create the podcast with this specific topic even more intriguing... I really enjoyed getting to know both her and her secrets better, and some reveals without doubt pack a punch. Her dog Bailey is also very present in the plot, which is always a bonus and helped bring more balance... And especially her father made for a great character as well. Poe is without doubt the star of the show though; well, Poe and the very special 'guest' on her podcast of course.
Tell Me What You Did is without doubt a lot darker than expected and there are plenty moments of danger along the way. The story mainly switches between the present and a very recent past, which worked brilliantly to pump up that suspense as the present timeline is pretty twisted. I simply couldn't put this book down... If you enjoy well written, intense, dark and action-packed thrillers, I can highly recommend Tell Me What You Did! I can't wait to try more of his backlist next.

Until one day someone demands she tells hers.
Dark & disturbing told in two parts - real time & a transcript from her own confession this is a good page turner that'll keep you guessing - Is he or isn't he?
