Loved Rosie’s first book and loved this one just as much. She’s a great, comic writer and heartbreakingly, has lots of material to work with. She’s brutally honest, and it’s a searing insight into mental health and how trauma affects you into adulthood, but written in a way that doesn’t depress you or crush your soul. I will keep reading her books as long as she keeps writing them!

I saw Waterland at an event and thought she was great. Then I saw this book at the library and was gripped from the first pages.
Fast-paced and engrossing, I read this book in one weekend. It balances out the dark main storytelling thread with vignettes of other parts of her life, in relation to a lie. It was intimate and dark but also funny and cheeky. But also its jusy the author sharing parts of her life with us, even though they are messy.
