I really enjoyed this. It was going to be 4.5 stars, and then the ending.

johnson (like always) did a great job at setting the atmosphere for the book, and - as someone who lives in london - i found it very interesting to see it through a visitor’s point of view. a lot of the book did feel like it was focused on what was going on in the characters’ lives (college applications, relationship drama etc.), and, while i did enjoy reading about this, i wish that we saw more about the actual mystery throughout it, and that some more details were mentioned before the reveal to make it more tense. as for the ending, i felt really frustrated about the cliffhanger, as it seemed like
all of david’s character development (and his and stevie’s relationship development) had been for nothing

I still loved this book, but it just wasn't the same as the others in the series.

Great read - just be prepared for an infuriating cliffhanger ending!

I loved being back in the Truly Devious world even though I didn't find the mystery of Nine Liars as gripping as some of those in earlier installments. Stevie and her friends' drastically different approaches to handling the pressure of senior year reminded me a lot of my own experiences. This was a really great way to get to know these characters on an even deeper level. I was completely blindsided by
David breaking up with Stevie, which is a cliffhanger I need answers to desperately
.

Nine Liars was a solid read and I will happily read Truly Devious books as long as Maureen Johnson wants to write them.
