Were the other books in this series also this bad? I haven't read them in a long time but this book was remarkabley bad. It felt like it was written by AI at time cause the sentences were so clunky. The writing style was also very repetitive, they dedicated like a paragraph to describing each character on the first couple of pages. Like straight up said "these characters are important, here's details about them." Also the mystery was bad, it took way too long for them to get to the mystery, I don't give a shit about Stevie's personal life and her boyfriend, it's so boring. Also the characterization was so off in this book. Like all of a sudden she's kissing David all she can. And Vi's whole character is being the  SJQ bestie who let's the author lampshade all the problematic bits. Nate and Janelle really fade to the background in this one. Nate is also way to talkative. I wouldn't be surprised if this was ghost written. Also she is such a bitch to her friends. She has no respect for them and keeps putting them in dangerous situations for no reason. Like when she lies to them and gets them in trouble but Janelle immediately forgives her because "It's just what Stevie does" like no! Stop letting her walk all over you! People are all upset about the twist ending but good for him, I hope Nate, Vi and Janelle leave her next, they deserve better. Also this whole book is about how Stevie doesn't know what she wants to do for college so you assume she'll have a realization by the end that you can go to college to study crime. But apparently not! Like there's so much talk about college but by the end it doesn't matter.
