9/10 - ok i LOVE this series, like i’m obsessed with it, & i’ve ran some of my own stats from other series & i always hate the second book (i.e. the mistake elle kennedy, bad girl reputation elle kennedy, people we meet on vacation emily henry, etc.) but like this series, the second book was the best, &&& i normally don’t like the book were the group isn’t as groupie (i.e. the goal elle kennedy) but like this story that was less about the bromance book club & more about alexis’ story, I WAS OBSESSED, also (in my opinion) these books are very feminist and dare i say “woke” & i don’t hate that or have issues like i have before (i.e. wrapped in a beau lillie vale) like other author need to take some notes bc THIS SERIES, THESE MEN, I’M IN LOVE, also the book club literally goes to a spa for the bachelor party of one of the other fellas in this book & who chapter dedicated had me kicking and giggling it was so stinking cute, ok i was kicking and giggling for most of this book, jk this entire series, but 3/5 books in i’m sold

Rejoice! At last, one of the books in this series got higher than 1 star! Woo-hoo!

The biggest reason why this was so much more enjoyable than the last two is because, for once, BOTH of the main leads were likable people! Who would've thought that the key to a good romance is having both leads be likable individuals you actually WANT to root for?! While I wouldn't say that Alexis and Noah are my OTP, their banter and chemistry did make me want to root for them to be together.

That being said, the biggest issue with this book was that since readers were treated to a healthy relationship, that meant Adams had invest in multiple subplots to keep the drama going. Unfortunately, the only one that really mattered was the kidney transplant one, while the Karen and Noah's subplots were largely forgotten until the right moment for OPTIMAL DRAMA. Yeah, what fucking ever. I will say that I loved Alexis's speech at the finale of the Karen subplot, that was probably my favorite moment of the whole story.

With regards to the kidney transplant subplot, as it was the most important one, I did NOT agree with the ending to it and I HATED how much ping-ponging there was between, "I'll do this because it's right!" "How could you do this to me?! Never contact me again!" "No, I must go through with it for me!" until it go to a point where I was internally screaming, "HOLY FUCKING SHIT, FUCKING PICK ONE AND STICK WITH IT!" I understand that a kidney transplant's a big deal, but this constant back and forth CLEARLY for the sake of drama wore me down to the point where I was skimming just to see what decision she would make. Also, the family was a collection of assholes for multiple reasons, which didn't help AT ALL.

Anyway, this is easily the best book in the series thus far. I'd say skip the first two (there's no need to read for continuity, everything's summarized in this book) and read this one instead. Still wouldn't say it's a great romance novel, but it was a pretty entertaining way to kill time.
