This autofiction is a complicated and great read because it showed that our past shaped our present and future more than we imagined. I love how Veronica Raimo wrote the character to be unreliable and hard to predict.

Veronica Raimo’s Lost on Me is the very essence of autofiction—memories and lies intermixing until even the narrator doesn’t know what’s true anymore.  This excellent plotless novel is a string of chaotically funny anecdotes woven with a handful of intimate moments.  Just like when you speak with a scatterbrained friend, there are lots of tangents, but Raimo’s transitions are so smooth you hardly notice, let alone care.  It’s Sheila Heti meets Fleabag.  There’s neurotic parents, teenage horniness, sibling rivalry (and bonding), and, at the end of the day, the central character doesn’t really know who she is at all.
