Auto biographical story of a writers eccentric families and her various ways of exploring the world as a young girl through to womanhood. Humorous and vivid characters. Youthful and existential

an absolute triumph, lost on me is at once a question on the act of writing and a pondering of what memory is and if it even exists. raimo with razor sharp wit and humor lays out one of the most philosophical works of fiction there’s ever been. i don’t think another book i’ve ever read has accomplished what this book has. brava!

Quick, funny, witty read. The story/contents were perfectly fit to the length of the book. There’s no real plot so don’t come looking for it! Reminded me of David sedaris at some points, if he were an Italian woman living between Rome and Berlin.

Her characterization of her father was great, and I loved the recurring bits about his walls and “We’ve reached the height of paradox!”. It took a bit longer to get a sense of her mother but by the end she felt real and whole too.

Didn’t give me the full satisfaction of a more plot-y 5-star read, but it does what it intended to do very well.
