Brilliant, weird, vivid, funny and sometimes bleak - these stories are hard to categorise. They're about the near future or the present; the triumph or breakdown of tech-capitalism; cats; inanimate objects and more. They're seething with ideas and wit and strangeness - I adored Tan's first novel [b:Rubik|33846181|Rubik|Elizabeth Tan|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1489830620l/33846181._SY75_.jpg|54784319], and this is an excellent follow-up.

"Sienna looks at me wearily. What is it like, she says, to live a half-hearted life of steadfast mediocrity?"

Sharp. Bracing. Cute without being twee. If you're not laughing, you're crying.

DID NOT FINISH

I enjoyed the first few stories in this collection.

The author is from Perth, Western Australia, but there was a uniquely Australian flavour in the stories, that felt familiar to my east-coast self.

I’ve hit pause on this one because I borrowed WAY too many books from the library at the start of covid lockdown and I decided to return this one once the due date rolled around, so someone else could enjoy it.
Hope to pick it back up another time.
