A philosophical experiment, turned into a fiction novel - interestingly it's quite close to the "Ender's game", or rather - Ender's game is close to it. The book could fall into the general "maverick outcast"-styled prose if not for bringing a completely opposite message - A man's duty is to himself. Sometimes the novel suffers from a sluggish writing style, and will turn away those who prefer situational description due to a dialogue-based character development. Of the ideas - one can see how deep the author personal story and the events of the turn of the 20th century forged the book's central idea of the value of an individual, ideas which weren't in favor during the period of collective action, collective entertainment and collective mass murder.
