I love a good atmospheric magical setting so this book was great for me. The vibes reminded me of A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid which is probably why I enjoyed reading it.

The book that got me out of my reading slump… the one that made me believe in magic again. Oh, how I shall be daydreaming of A Far Wilder Magic for many moons to come…

Such gentle and exquisite world building, settles you into a place you could reside in forever. Characters that weave together into the most beautiful tapestry. Heavy topics discussed in such a meaningful and delicate way. This book is truly something special.

What a delight. Folky vibes, enemies to lovers, with beautiful descriptive prose and a setting that felt built by Hozier. I loved both the main characters- especially Margaret who avoids all the tropes of the usual YA Heroine. It is a much slower pace than I usually like but I so enjoyed the writing that I appreciated spending the time and wanted to stay even longer. Saft did a great job of avoiding bland, predictable tropes and I found myself frequently unsure what was going to happen next or how things would flesh out.

Good lead characters! The worldbuilding, plot, and villains had all the usual problems I have with YA but this audiobook met me where I’ve been at mentally the past few weeks so I’m happy.

Interesting magic system. The hunt had a very interesting concept. The romance almost felt like the main plot, but I didn’t mind. I think the romance was well written.
