I should have read the synopsis before reading… I think I might have decided to skip this one. It really wasn’t for me. I disliked every character, and found the casual references to slavery and animal abuse really off putting (even when acknowledging that it was written in a different time). I do not deny that there are passages of great wit, and some clever moments, but it wasn’t worth it for me. I kept reading, thinking that there would be a unifying point, or great revelation at the end. No such luck.
