Interesting from the start and easily grabbed my attention. Then the storyline sort of plateaus for most of the book until the very end. Although I was engrossed in the story, every character was unlikeable. Any sympathy or redeeming qualities are overshadowed by their negative actions. I’m usually okay with books that don’t seem to end with a resolution or don’t have an epilogue, but the ending left me pretty dissatisfied all around. Would still recommend it though, as I did enjoy it overall.

5 years ago, 23-year-old Rose Gold Watt’s mother, Patty, who has Munchausen by Proxy, was convicted. For years Rose suffered from malnutrition and other illnesses due to her mother's abuse but after Patty’s release though Rose Gold lets her mom move in with her Has she finally forgiven her mom or does Rose Gold have revengeful plans of her own ?

Darling Rose Gold is an extremely dark and twisted psychological thriller .This book was certainly not what I was expecting . It’s filled with terrible characters who have no morals or thoughts for anybody else but in this story it works.Told in Patty and Rose Gold’s POV’s this book was fast-paced, entertaining, and difficult to put down

I would like to thank Berkley Publishing Group & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

It took me a veeery long time to finish it, as I couldn’t connect with anyone.
It’s not bad, however, the original story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard is fascinating enough without any additional twists that made the poor girl reads like a psychopath.
Watch “The Act” on Hulu instead

While I was enjoying this book when I started it, I also started feeling like this was going to be one of those "sad/tragedy porn" stories and I don't have time for that right now. It makes sense in the context of the story (especially since she's trying to enact revenge on her mom), but I just can't handle negative chapter after negative chapter. I will say, the writing in this story is good and Patty's characterization makes her one hell of a creepy and disturbing woman. Another issue is I'm scared as to how far she's willing to go to control Rose Gold again, and since it's clear she's going to involve Rose Gold's son, I don't think I can handle it.

Again, this is NOT a bad story, I'm just not sure I can emotionally handle finishing this story. I do recommend others giving it a shot as the writing is handled well and both main characters are developed and written well. I'm simply not a good match with this story.
