Served as a fine reference book, and contained a wide variety of interesting stories and images. However, I felt it lacked cohesion. Despite initially being framed as a book about "patient zeros", only about half of the chapters actually delve into stories of these people. Ultimately, this book works best if viewed as a compilation of surface level descriptions of infectious diseases.

fascinating! took me a year to read, but to no fault of the book. I just wasnt in the mood for non fiction most of last year.
