This entry in the series follows Gates and Tallahassee (which, honestly...that name?? ugh.) and I actually enjoyed it more than the first. I find I often enjoy the second book of a series more than the first. I wonder why that is?

Gates and Tal have been hooking up for literally years. Until one drunken night ten years ago when Tal convinces flighty Gates to get married while in Vegas. Gates freaks out and leaves that night, after getting married. Flash forward to the events of Crankshaft from our new MC's perspectives: Gates never signed, in ten years, the divorce papers (though I'm fairly confident this situation would've qualified for an annulment?). Tal still thinks about Gates. Both still have feelings for one-another but know that they can never share that info with Steele.

This book manages to do my biggest no-no in romance (a lack of adult conversation causing the entire conflict) in the right way. They have discussions but keep their insecurities to themselves. This seems way more realistic than this trope tends to come across.
I loved this. From the go the reader knows that Gates and Tal both still care about the other despite everything that has happened between them in the interim ten years since their secret wedding.

I think this series is definitely one worth reading and can't wait for the third book.

Gaites and Tallahassee have known each other forever through Steele (gaites brother / Tallahassee best friend) have always been attracted to each other and one drunken night on Vegas get married.
Gaites freaks and disappears for 5 years. Guess what? they're still married. When he finally comes home to Wisconsin, he lives with Tallahassee when recovering from a medical procedure. The spark is still there and they decide to try it out but still don't tell Steele.
As with most KM Neuhold books, it is a great combination of heart and humor.
Audiobook done by Tim Paige and Liam DiCosimo, both do a fantastic job of mixing humor and hotter times in the audio.

3.5 stars– I couldn’t put this down. Their history was everything, and boy, do I love a secret marriage.

I love this series! In Crankshaft, Gates comes back to town and stays with Tal and I love the pranks he plays. This book gives you all the feels- it's funny, lighheartedness, but at the same time Gates is dealing with some serious medical issues and insecurities. He needs all the love Tal can give him. Brothers best friend, second chance. Would recommend. I also love the cameos from the Four Bears Construction Crew.
