3 stars for what I’ve read but I dnfed (maybe soft dnf) at 47%

It’s a cutesy cozy romance between our FMC and MMC but after looking through some comments on Goodreads and seeing one which said it was basically a book subsidising dogs for dragons I couldn’t un-see it.

I like the idea of the book and what I’ve read I like but I’m just bored and the baby dragons basically are behaving like dogs/puppies and I can’t get by it

Okay. This is so saccharine it’s almost painful at times but I like kinda loved it?

That was the worst book I have ever read. I wish I would have DNF’d this.

The main characters had no substance aside from what the other decided to repeat about them over and over again. They reminded me of that emo couple that would just weirdly poke each other all day. Everything about it was cringe.

The concept of the story had so much potential, but unfortunately we had a writer that just shoved all kinds of tropes in it and didn’t bother to think about the actual plot and development of the characters. How are you going to have dragons and only call them “baby draggos”? Then you name the main dragon sparky…

This just.... Isn't it. It feels like it's written by children, or for children. Classed as adult, but written for a much younger audience. Also like 3 hours into an audiobook and was not invested at all. Snore.

I was expecting a romance set in a generic fantasy setting. However, it was the weird world building that threw me off. It's a work set in our world, the real world, yet instead of carefully integrating what it would be like to live in an earth with magical creatures, we get this strange half thought out, half thrown it in to justify the plot setting. Why mention South Asian cuisine but then set the story in a generic valley town in Anywhere? Why go into specific details about one aspect of dragons and ignore everything else? I get that this is a romance and I'm supposed to care more about that, but the inconsistent world building really pulled me out of any whimsy and delight having baby dragons would entail. Add in bland characters I've seen done better in other works, paper thin and predictable relationships, and you have a subpar work that expects cute dragons to carry its weight.
