Oh my heart ❤️ 😭 this was so beautiful and heartbreaking. Highly recommend. I cried so hard at the ending!! Such an inspiring story for women.

My thoughts on this beautiful book changed a good bit throughout, but overall I think this is an equally important and well-told fictional story about the women in the Vietnam War. There were some stylistic and plot choices that made this 4.5 stars versus 5, but overall, a fantastic read that doesn’t shy away from delving into incredibly hard topics.

Як завжди із всіма книгами Крістін Генни - це було просто (і тут просто бракує слів). Ангелочок, який роздає талант писати історії, які відгукуються до всіх фібр душі явно поцілував Крістін в голівоньку багато разів. Цю книгу можна читати на стількох рівнях - від буквального до емоційного і вона на кожному рівні торкається тих відчуттів, про які так складно говорити, але які є.

На буквальному рівні ця книга про життя жінки, яка стала медсестрою-волонтеркою в Вєтнамській війні на стороні США та її життя після того як вона повернулася додому. Для мене ж це книга про бездонну дорослу самотність, яка не є самотністю за вибором, а якимось таким майже незмінним фактом буття. Дуже близько було читати про моменти, в якій героїні було просто бездонно погано, але не було жодної людини в світі, яка б була з нею і не через те, що не було людей, які її любили чи хотіли бути з нею, проте деякі події, а потім і збіг обставин нас можуть зламати нас настільки, що вже немає життя в якому ми були б не зламані.

Дуже сподобалася фраза: "It doesn't matter what your friends did or didn't experience. You are allowed to be uniquely affected by wartime experience."

This is the story of a woman who serves as a nurse during the Vietnam War and what it was like for her to come home after her service. My stepdad was in the Vietnam war, and I never heard him say much about his service, but what I did hear was very similar to what this book portrayed. This was definitely a page-turner and an intense and interesting read.

This book was such a beautifully devastating story!!! Every chapter consistently took you through a spectrum of emotions. Every scene was written so pleasingly well that you felt like you were there experiencing each event. I couldn't recommend this book enough!
