i need the fourth book to come out yesterday. i have been obsessed with this world. every time i tried to read something else, all i could think about was what was happening with Romeria? i might need to read K. A. Tucker's back log to satisfy until the fourth comes out.

More a 3/3.5 than a 4

Mixed thoughts:
- the gracen romance stuff felt forced and boring
- the tyree romance hint was disappointing. I guess it ends up as Tyree/Annika rules Ybari while Romeria/Zander Islor (or a big democracy, like most of books like these end up being)
- I hate cliffhangers ngl
- Ulysede is a living utopia that will fix everyone’s problem, which feels so damn cheap and boring. You have a cool and unique situation and you just throw it out of the window like that. It would have been so cool to see people try to find a compromise between vampires and everyone else. Guess it would have been too nice of a thing
- like the other books, the pacing was off. the queen was killed off in barely 3 pages with no buildup whatsoever while the rest of the book was filled with Gracen romance and Atticus dumbassery. Seriously though? There is this big conflict at the border and you don’t even get a fight, you just kill the queen — the FMC’s mother — and *nobody* bats an eye or think it’s such a fucked up thing? The ending part should have had much more weight than it had, instead of smuggling *read notes* children and mortals out of a random city while they — she — had much bigger problems on her hands
- the ending was too quick in its resolution for the scope it had
- are the commanders all idiots in this book? Jarek can’t keep his mouth shut while his superiors speak *to enemies*. Same for the female, annoying, commander that apparently think that insulting possible allies or rushing to save two soldiers is smart
- F for Sofie

I only took off a half star because of the perceived ending for one of the characters I am growing attached to throughout this series. I am obsessed with this series. Just obsessed.
