Good sturdy investigative crime fiction story. The journey is better than the ending but all in all I enjoyed the ride. Starting with a mother attending her own funeral, we then go back in time 10+ years to the death of her husband. She is arrested and charged with his murder even though we know she didn't commit the crime. The rest of the book is her release 10 years later and her clearing her name.... A few twists and a quick ending, I enjoyed it.

Ten years ago Heather lost everything. Now she will stop at nothing to get her life and children back.
This was a little slow for me and I just found the investigation parts a little boring. It felt like parts of it were made longer than they should have been.
I actually found Heather's character quite annoying and some of the things she got up to were not quite believable.

4.5 Stars
Overview: T.M. Logan sure can write a page turner! They aren't full of murder, action or gore or hugely dark themes, but it's his ability to write gripping suspense that I love. This one I could really relate to mainly because I'm a mother myself. There wouldn't be anything I wouldn't do for my son, which is why I connected to Heather so much.
Good Points: I think it's the writing style I love the most. It's easy to read yet so full of suspense and emotion. I liked the past and present POV so you can see how events happened after the murder. I didn't guess the ending at all and it all wrapped up quite nicely at the end.
Not so Good Points: As much as I enjoyed this book, when it came to the ending I did feel a little deflated. I just didn't really feel it or believe it. I can't say much more without spoiling it. Also, at times the political themes really confused me and I found myself switching off from those parts. Then when it got to the ending...well...if you've read it then feel free to DM me so we can discuss!
All in all a brilliant domestic thriller from the master of the up all night thriller! Bravo T.M. Logan. Keep them coming!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Another T.M. Logan masterpiece!
Whenever I pick up a book by this author, I know they are going to be fast-paced & gripping. After reading The Mother I'm happy to say this still holds true. This is my third book by this author, and I can’t wait to read the others.
There are certain things I love as a reader, when the book from the beginning pulls me in & doesn’t let go , when I’m given multiple twists and when the ending is really an ending ( I don’t like it to end too soon or drag out too long). This book had all of that and more.
I cannot wait for his next one in 2024!

I've read 3 books by this author now and he is brilliant at writing thrillers, I'll be reading more.
This was interesting because it centres around the death of a politician and potential dodgy dealings. I was a little confused at points as I wasn't sure exactly what they thought was going on at all times but it didn't stop me from enjoying it😂 I was invested in the story and the characters and I thought it ended very well. I did guess one particular spoiler quite early on and I was suspicious of another character, but not enough to believe they were at fault so that was a nice surprise.
One of my favourite moments was when the main character was watching her children from afar and her dog came over to see her all excited because she had been in prison for the past 9 years. It was a sweet reunion but I found it so sad when she had to encourage the dog to leave her 🥲
