I was so excited for a new Silk story, especially written by Maureen Goo... But this was... Not great. I just didn't care about the conflict, so much has happened with Silk since I first read a comic with her... It just... So many good parts but nothing felt like it fit together for me. What a bummer.

This was a great way to jump into Cindy's character. I knew very little about Cindy before picking up these comics and now I just love her. I think this story was a riot from start to finish. It's a little fast but not in a way that's distracting? The banter between Cindy and other characters is fantastic and also Jonah isn't half bad. I'm glad to have read this.

Compared to previous volumes, this feels much more intimate as we get to experience Cindy Moon without a Peter connection. If felt as if previous volumes kept falling back to her history with Spider-Man and this time we see more of her with her family and her creating a life for herself. Which yeah, we did see that before but it kinda felt that whatever spider-event was happening would be creeping over what was going on with Silk. Here, it's all her. So getting past that, the story itself feels pretty straight forward and similar to a Ms. Marvel story with an ancient bi-pedal animal bringing on a bigger threat. It's a plot that works well as an introduction for new readers, which this book does.
