I loved this book as an intro for African mythology. In some ways it reminded me of the Percy Jackson series, in that some events feel manufactured in order to give an excuse to run into a specific god or mythical creature. However, the pacing of this book is a little slower. Also, I didn't personally like the male main lead. Regardless, I'm still excited to read the rest of the series
