TLDR: My rating 3.5. A little less enjoyable then the first book but still a nice little mystery with fun characters. Elizabeth was more of a character and less of a plot device this book which I greatly appreciated. Overall this was a fun cozy little mystery that filled my urge for a good detective murder mystery book. A spy murder mystery is a fun time, with fun twists and little reveals. I did enjoy it over all I just have a few complaints and highlights I wanna mention.
The mystery however could have been I don't know stronger? I really didn't enjoy the side characters pov that much, especially Connie, this really isn't spoilers as you can assume this is going to happen but it technically is a spoiler so I'll mark it as one.
In the end Connie is a minor villain in a bigger story so my complaints are not that big of a deal but she was focused on a lot which is why i'm mentioning my problems with her.
The main Thursday Murder Club continue being fun, I liked Ibrahim's arc (sorry if the spelling of the name is wrong I listened to the audio book) to be very good and compelling felt realistic. As I mentioned earlier Elizabeth felt more like a character this book which is nice, she had good character realizations, her and Joyce's friendship growing was good. Joyce and Ron more moments to shine and continue being fun likable character. Thumbs up to all of them but I found Chris and Donna especially a little underwhelming or boring until the final chapters where they FINALLY started having growth or moving towards something. Plus they felt like extra filler as their subplot felt very disconnected to the main one for most of the book. Also there subplot felt tacked on to the main plot when even was relevant. Both Donna, and Connie's chapters felt similar they were both peppy people trying to get a date. I was hoping maybe Connie be like Donna's foil or help her grow but oh well.
I hope both of these characters have less repetitive feeling chapters in the next book.
