90% of the time, if I watch a movie before the book, I still like the movie. It's a different telling of the world, and I can appreciate it for what it is. The only movie that I have ever absolutely hated and will never watch again after reading the book was "What's The Worst That Could Happen?" (imdb link: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0161083/ )
The book is actually the 9th in a series, which I wasn't aware of when I saw the movie. I only saw the movie because I worked at a video store, we got free movies every week, and I had the time to watch it. After watching the movie, and enjoying it well enough to rate it 7/10 stars, I decided to look it up. I found out that it was based on a book so I went to my library and got a copy. I read the book in less than a day, and found it very funny. It also made me change my rating on the movie to a 2/10.
The ending of the book is just so brilliant, and the ending of the movie is just so horribly stupid! I don't want to give too much away, so as not to spoil it for anyone, but I would absolutely recommend checking out the book. And, a big plus is that you don't have to have any clue about the first 8 books in the series to enjoy it!
